Urban League: ‘No Solution Was Ever Reached in Silence’

Urban League: ‘No Solution Was Ever Reached in Silence’

Over 60 years ago, a man was sent to prison for wanting an education. How many of you can guess his name? If you want to know why his story still applies to current times then watch the first few minutes of Sen. Rand Paul’s Urban League Speech below.

This isn’t the 1950s anymore but obstacles still remain for minorities. One can point at the high incarceration rate or how the wrong zip code can doom a child to a bad education. National Urban League President Marc Morial is right. “No compromise, no solution, was ever reached in silence.”

They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result,” said Sen. Paul at the National Urban League Annual Conference in Cincinnati. “We’ve being trying the same thing over and over again in education, in combating poverty, in combating drugs. I say look to the horizon and consider that maybe we do need some fresh ideas to combat old and festering problems.”
