Fifteen GOP front runners received Hillary Clinton’s book last week but only one Senator found a clever use for it.
Paul responded to the baiting with both humor and a pointed message by placing his copy of Hillary Clinton’s book up for auction on eBay.
One repeated narrative that we hear from the Democratic party is about working “across the aisle” with political opposition. Democrats accuse the GOP consistently of obstructionism. But what does bipartisanship truly mean?
We know what it means to Paul: Being brave enough to pass tough, but needed, legislation through the Senate with whatever allies are needed. So what’s Hillary’s take on bipartisanship and productive government?
In an utterly sophomoric insult, Clinton sent a copy of her book, “Hard Choices”, to her GOP rivals with the statement:
“I understand that you and your fellow Republican candidates for president were questioning my record of accomplishments at your last debate, so I thought you might enjoy reading my book.” (The Blaze)
Seriously, Hillary? You’re the one who will build bridges and get government functioning again? We’ve had nearly eight years already of a president who dismissed and insulted his rivals. Did you not see how well that worked out? At least your husband treated his rivals with respect and dignity. You’re running for President of the United States, not president of your high school.
“Clinton said she sent her latest autobiography, Hard Choices, to her Republican rivals as a tongue-in-cheek way to explain her accomplishments as secretary of state.”
To be clear, there is nothing tongue-in-cheek about the issues at hand. While Clinton may think she can make light of serious questions about her capacity to be president, making jokes about inquiries into matters like Benghazi and her ability to keep classified information contained are not laughing matters.
Paul responded with far more class than was warranted. Hoping to highlight the seriousness of what Clinton clearly does not take seriously, Paul posted the book on eBay.
Signing her book himself, he clearly summed up his thoughts on her tone-deaf joke:
“Hillary, your refusal to provide security for our mission in Benghazi should forever preclude you from higher office!” (ABC News)
